Woodsmoke and Time
[00:40.40]The fire's been going [00:42.50]Since the light turned gold [00:49.49]Same three logs my father [00:53.07]Used to hold [00:58.75]Kids are chasing [01:01.35]Shadows past the tree line [01:07.13]And I'm just sitting here [01:10.51]Watching the time [01:13.39]Let it burn slow [01:16.59]And I ain't in a rush to see the embers fade [01:21.19]Every spark's a memory that the smoke has made [01:25.59]Some seasons teach you more than you ever paid [01:34.34]Wood smoking time [01:36.19]Drifting through the trees [01:38.74]Old friends fade in soft into the evening breeze [01:43.34]Stay a while [01:45.69]Let the fire talk [01:47.89]Let the night stretch along [01:50.39]This is the only kind of wealth I've [01:55.24]Ever known [02:05.14]My buddy's chair sits empty [02:08.54]Since last fall [02:13.54]But I swear I still hear him laughing [02:18.24]At it all [02:23.04]The kids don't know the names of who [02:27.19]Came before [02:30.94]But they're building the same fire [02:35.49]Right by that same door [02:37.89]He liked us now [02:41.69]And I ain't in a rush to see the embers fade [02:46.14]Every spark's a memory that the smoke has made [02:50.44]Some seasons teach you more than you ever paid [02:59.09]Wood smoking time [03:01.09]Drifting through the trees [03:03.44]Old friends fade in soft into the evening breeze [03:08.29]Stay a while [03:10.74]Let the fire talk [03:12.79]Let the night stretch along [03:15.34]This is the only kind of wealth I've [03:19.89]Ever known [03:24.49]I used to think that moving on meant leaving something behind [03:29.14]Now I know it just means caring it different in your mind [03:33.79]Every fire we build is the same one we always lit [03:38.74]Just new hands learning how to tend to it [04:37.74]Wood smoking time [04:39.54]Fire's dying down [04:44.29]Yeah, let it burn
